Reflection on ICT as a Constructive Tool.
From my perspective, ICT has emerged not merely as a means
of accessing information but as a powerful constructive tool that changes how
we learn, create, collaborate and solve problems. I being someone engaged in
teaching and learning process, I have observed as well as experienced both the
advantage and obstacles imposed by integration of ICT in a meaningful and constructive
ways in teaching and learning process.
One of the significant impacts of ICT is its capability to
support active learning and knowledge construction. Through platforms like
Google Workspace, Educational Software and Multimedia tools, learners like us,
no longer have to be the passive recipients of information. Instead, I am encouraged
to construct my own understanding by exploring, experimenting and creating. Tools
such as PHET simulations, mind mapping apps and collaborative documents provided
opportunities for learners like me to learn by doing.
Personally, I have found that ICT enables me to design
interactive and engaging learning environments where I can take ownership of my
learning. For instance, using Padlet during the EDT Class allows me to share my
thoughts interactively while tools like Canva really empowered me to present
and build my digital content creatively. I feel this shift from consumption to creation
aligns well with 21st century skill development.
However, I also critically acknowledge the constructive use of
ICT requires guidance, digital literacy and intentional planning. Without proper
support, there’s a risk that learners like us may use ICT in superficial ways,
which might lead to distraction or dependency rather than deeper learning.
Moreover, I believe that equity remains a concern, not all students have access
to devices, connectivity or support at home can widen the digital divide and
pose challenge to inclusion in constructive learning experiences.
In conclusion, from my perspective, ICT serves as a highly knowledge
building tool when used with purpose, creativity and awareness of learner’s
needs and contexts. I foresee a greater potential to transform education into a
more interactive, personalized and student centered experience.
