Summary of the Blog

Summary of the Blog The blog contains three reflections on: 1)     ICT as a Informative Tool: Here in this reflection, it basically talks about the shift in my understanding of seeing informative tools as only traditional resources to recognizing the value of digital platforms like YouTube and Online content. These tool aid in flexible, visual and self-paced learning. However, their effectiveness depends on source reliability and critical thinking. Key aspects of the reflection: 1. Initial view: Informative tools were once seen only as books and notes. 2. Expanded understanding: Realization that ICT tools like YouTube and internet resources are powerful educational aids. 3. Benefits: Enhanced understanding, visual learning, flexible pacing, and independent learning. 4. Challenges: Risk of misinformation, distractions, and time mismanagement. 5. Skills developed: Source verification, critical thinking, and responsibility for personal learning. 6. O...

Reflection on Augmentative and Alternative Communication and Non-Visual Desktop Access.

Reflection on Two Assistive Technologies: Augmentative and Alternative Communication and Non-Visual Desktop Access (NVDA) Due to evolving classroom environment, technology plays a significant role in making education accessible to all regardless of the challenges to learn. Assistive technologies which I strongly believe it to be effective when it comes to inclusive education, catering to the diverse needs of learners. It empowers the person with disabilities to be independent of their learning and let them engage more actively in learning. Assistive Technologies helps bridge the gap in accessibility regardless of ability to learn. I can assure that it tailors to the diverse learning needs in Inclusive Education. So, I explored two Assistive Technologies used in Inclusive Education: Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Non-Visual Desktop Access (NVDA). I came to know that the AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) is an Assistive Technology designed t...

Reflection on ICT as a Constructive Tool.

From my perspective, ICT has emerged not merely as a means of accessing information but as a powerful constructive tool that changes how we learn, create, collaborate and solve problems. I being someone engaged in teaching and learning process, I have observed as well as experienced both the advantage and obstacles imposed by integration of ICT in a meaningful and constructive ways in teaching and learning process. One of the significant impacts of ICT is its capability to support active learning and knowledge construction. Through platforms like Google Workspace, Educational Software and Multimedia tools, learners like us, no longer have to be the passive recipients of information. Instead, I am encouraged to construct my own understanding by exploring, experimenting and creating. Tools such as PHET simulations, mind mapping apps and collaborative documents provided opportunities for learners like me to learn by doing. Personally, I have found that ICT enables me to design i...

Image of PHET Simulations as a Constructive tool

PhET Simulations is an interactive researched based digital tools designed to make science and mathematics concepts more accessible and engaging for learners. Aligning with the constructivist approach to education, PhET simulations promote active learning by students to manipulate variables, observe outcomes and experiment with different scenarios in safe virtual environment. These hands on, inquiry based method encourages learners to construct their own understanding through exploration rather than simply absorbing facts. For me, PhET Simulations is really helpful when it comes to demystifying complex and abstract topics such as energy transformation or chemical reactions. As I engage myself with the simulations, I am able to form hypotheses, test my prior knowledge and ideas and most important of all, reflecting on the result.  PhET Simulations had enabled me to learn the concepts and topics taught during SCA201 Module at my own pace and revisit  concepts as needed.
