Reflection on ICT as a communicative tool

ICT as a communicative tool play a pivotal role in the teaching and learning much like daily communication. Since I am a student, I just utilize Telegram and Moodle for academic work with friends and mentors and most importantly, accessing study materials. While I have used other communication interfaces like WhatsApp and Messenger occasionally, but due to the nature of Telegram and Moodle, I am a frequent user of the app and Virtual Learning Environment.

The aspect that surprised me the most was the app's ability to accommodate extensive group chats and sharing files of different types and sizes effortlessly. I remember being part of more than 10 groups created for our course where we exchange notes, reminders and updates.

The cloud-based storage allowed me to access shared files anytime without downloading everything. The channel feature was useful for receiving organized content from teachers without unnecessary conversations. I really appreciate the edit and the delete option, which helped me in correcting messages and keeping things clear.

On the other hand, Moodle really is another effective platform because I experienced that communications do not lose their academic nature and are task related thus preserve a professional learning environment. It’s centrally located characters encourages all course to communication to be organized and readily accessible in on- go thus I can access the courses and materials anytime.

Despite these advantages, I did face challenges. With so many active groups with many members in a group, some important messages sometimes get easily buried. I receive overwhelming notifications from the groups active. There were moments of distractions because of non-academic channels I also followed. I only face challenges with Moodle sometimes, that to I couldn’t upload large size videos and sometimes link to the resources doesn’t work.

I strongly believe that Telegram is more than just a messaging app. It is a multifunctional platform that supports collaborative learning especially students who are comfortable with technology. I learned how to navigate digital communication more responsibly, organizing chats, muting distractions and saving key messages for quick access.

All in all, Telegram and Moodle had helped me stay connected with my peers and manage my learning more efficiently. Its unique features made communication smoother and file sharing easier. Going forward, I see Telegram and Moodle as a reliable tool to support my academic growth, provided I use it with discipline. I will be mindful of how I manage distractions and prioritize academic contents.
