ICT Integrated Lesson Plan on Equivalent Fraction
Class: IV
Chapter: Fractions and Decimals
Topic: Equivalent Fraction
Time:50 minutes
By the end of the lesson, each student will be able to:
1. Define and recognize equivalent fractions through observation and exploration.
2. Simplify fractions to determine equivalency through the understanding of place value.
3. Compare and match fractions to their equivalents through the use of visual and computer tools.
4. Use conceptual understanding to solve real-world problems on equivalent fractions.
5. Explain equivalency in fractions using good reasoning and correct mathematical computations.
Resources required: Computer with internet access, GeoGebra Kahoot, Nearpod, Ed puzzle, Book widgets, Projector/smart board.
Introduction:
1. Show a short and engaging video on equivalent fraction using a projector/smartboard.
Example: https://youtu.be/qcHHhd6HizI
2. Ask students to write a short reflection on their understanding of the topic in the collaborative Nearpod Activity.
3.Have them share their reflections using a Book widgets discussion board.
Learning Task 1: Understanding Equivalent Fraction
1.Use GeoGebra to demonstrate equivalent fractions
2. After that, let the students practice the exercises on Equivalent Fractions on IXL following the given link: https://in.ixl.com/maths/class-vi/equivalent-fractions
3. Ask students to record their findings in the google docs.
4. Let the students present randomly using the wheel of names.
Learning Task 2: Matching Equivalent Fractions
1. Open the Book Widgets interactive exercise on matching equivalent fractions.
2. Complete the Ed-puzzle video on Equivalent Fraction and solve the exercise.
3. Compare the matched equivalent fractions.
4. Record it in the BookWidget's shared digital worksheet on equivalent fraction.
Learning Task 3: Real life Application of Equivalent fractions:
1.Group the students into a group of 8 teams with 4 members each.
2. After that provide the individual groups with real life scenarios of fractions they are familiar with.
3. Share the Kahoot Login code to the students.
3. Then ask the individual team to access the computer and log in to Kahoot!https://kahoot.it/example
4. Flash the clues on the Kahoot! and let them answer the equivalent fraction of the mystery items.
5. Score Dashboard will be projected on the screen.
At the end of the task, each team should write a reflective journal about their takeaways on Nearpod.
Closure and Assessment:
Let them complete the online quiz on equivalent fraction, following the link https://quizizz.com/
This will be their final assessment score of the lesson.
